2025 Christmas and New Year Holiday Season: Pertamina NRE Ensures Sustainable Energy Supply

Jakarta, December 23, 2024 – Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), with its subsidiaries and affiliates, ensures readiness to support Indonesia's energy needs during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2024-2025 holiday season, particularly from more sustainable energy source. This initiative emphasizes Pertamina NRE's commitment to providing environmentally friendly electricity to maintain supply stability amidst the increasing holiday demand.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE, Dicky Septriadi, stated that the company has prepared strategic measures to ensure optimal sustainable energy delivery.

"We are committed to meeting society's energy needs, especially during the Christmas and New Year holiday season, with electricity sourced from renewable energy. It aligns with our vision to support the energy transition and create a greener future for Indonesia. We ensure the reliability of our operations so that people can enjoy the holidays comfortably," Dicky explained.

Dicky further elaborated that Pertamina NRE continues to strengthen coordination to ensure operational reliability during peak energy consumption, particularly during the Christmas and New Year holiday seasons. Pertamina NRE’s contributions to smooth energy supply during Nataru 2024-2025 include Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in various Pertamina Group operational areas, such as the Rokan oil and gas field with a capacity of 25.7 MWp. Other areas include refineries, petrol stations (SPBU), and other state-owned enterprises like PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and Angkasa Pura, contributing a total capacity of 52 MWp.

Moreover, Pertamina NRE supports energy resilience by providing a clean energy supply to the public through its affiliate, PT Jawa Satu Power, which operates the Jawa-1 Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) in Cilamaya with a capacity of 1,760 MW, supporting the electricity needs of Java and Bali.

Additionally, its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE), operates geothermal power plants (PLTP) in six areas across Indonesia: Sibayak (North Sumatra), Ulubelu (Lampung), Lumut Balai (South Sumatra), Karaha and Kamojang (West Java), and Lahendong (North Sulawesi), with a total capacity of 672.5 MW.

Geothermal energy plays a significant role in meeting electricity demands in several provinces. For example, the Lahendong PLTP supplies over 30% of the electricity needs in North Sulawesi and Gorontalo, while the Ulubelu PLTP provides approximately 22% of Lampung's electricity, operating continuously for 24 hours.

To ensure clean energy supply reliability, Pertamina NRE conducts regular commander calls, where management and operational teams report on readiness, including workforce numbers, health, safety, environmental management, and other operational aspects.

Currently, Pertamina NRE Group guarantees clean energy generation with a total capacity of 2,493.9 MW from various power plants across Indonesia. By the end of 2024, Pertamina NRE Group successfully produced 7,685 GWh of clean electricity, exceeding the production target by 13%.

For this holiday season, Pertamina NRE encourages the public to use energy wisely to support environmental sustainability and ensure equitable energy distribution. Pertamina NRE’s commitment not only addresses the holiday season’s energy needs but also highlights its strategic role as a key player in Indonesia’s energy transition to achieve Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Pertamina NRE is part of the Pertamina Group's Nataru Task Force to serve the public during Christmas and New Year celebrations. "The Pertamina Nataru Task Force has been operating since December 16, 2024, and will continue until January 9, 2025. Pertamina is on standby 24/7 through the Pertamina Digital Hub to ensure energy supply and smooth distribution in collaboration with various related agencies," Fadjar explained.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina’s business lines and operations.**
