Achieving BBB Score, Pertamina NRE's Commitment to ESG Management

January 7, 2025 – Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) focusing on the development of new and renewable energy (NRE), has demonstrated its commitment and dedication to sustainability in its business operations. One of its efforts is consistently conducting annual ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management assessments. This year, Pertamina NRE achieved a BBB ESG score as assessed by MSCI, a global ESG rating agency.

The BBB score indicates that Pertamina NRE has successfully managed ESG risks and opportunities, particularly in the renewable energy-based power generation sub-industry. MSCI’s evaluation uses various key indicators to assess a company's performance in environmental, social, and governance aspects and compares it with similar companies in the same sub-industry.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE, Dicky Septriadi, stated that the ESG rating achievement reflects the company’s dedication to sustainability. "We consider sustainable business practices one of our top priorities. Conducting ESG assessments by global rating agencies demonstrates that, for Pertamina NRE, sustainability is not just a trend—we are serious and fully committed to implementing it comprehensively."

Dicky further explained that this effort aims to evaluate the company’s sustainability performance from a global perspective. While the BBB score is quite good, he is confident that Pertamina NRE can improve it next year.

Of the three pillars assessed, environmental, social, and governance, Pertamina NRE scored near-perfect in the environmental pillar. It reflects the company’s excellent performance in managing environmental aspects.

By consistently conducting ESG assessments, Pertamina NRE not only strengthens its position as a leader in the renewable energy sector but also supports the government's eighth Asta Cita goal: fostering harmony between the environment, nature, and culture, while promoting interfaith tolerance to achieve a just and prosperous society.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Pertamina encourages all its subsidiaries to implement sustainable business practices. This commitment is recognized domestically and internationally.
