Medan, December 23, 2024 – Ahead of the 2024–2025 Christmas and New Year holidays, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Yuliot, conducted a working visit to oversee the readiness of Pertamina’s Christmas and New Year Task Force (Satgas Nataru) in Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday, December 23, 2024.

During the visit, Yuliot was accompanied by the Head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), Erika Retnowati, and the Director of Risk Management of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga of Commercial & Trading Sub-holding, Rahman Pramono Wibowo. The Deputy Minister inspected several locations, including the Agung Sarana Terminal LPG Filling and Bulk Transportation Station (SPPBE), the Medan Group Fuel Terminal, and Pertamina Petrol Station 11.201.101.

During this holiday season, fuel and LPG demand is expected to increase, particularly in Medan and the North Sumatra region. Speaking to the media after visiting the Medan Group Fuel Terminal, Deputy Minister Yuliot assured the supply of fuel and LPG during the Nataru period is sufficient.

"The national post of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is conducting field checks on the availability of fuel and LPG. Alhamdulillah, the supply is sufficient for Christmas 2024 and the welcoming of the 2025 New Year. Distribution is running smoothly, ensuring fuel and LPG availability is relatively stable," Yuliot said.

Pertamina has prepared for this energy supply guarantee by increasing fuel and LPG product stock and ensuring all distribution processes function optimally.

"We have added fuel stock at all filling stations, considering the average demand increase of 5% above normal supply. Stock has already been increased from normal supply levels, so there will be no shortages," Yuliot added.

Meanwhile, the Director of Risk Management of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga of Commercial & Trading Sub-holding, Rahman Pramono Wibowo, stated that Pertamina Patra Niaga has also prepared special services to ensure smooth energy distribution in North Sumatra.

"In North Sumatra, we operate 287 standby petrol stations on strategic routes, seven Modular Kiosk Pertamina Siaga points, and 45 standby fuel tanker trucks to ensure uninterrupted fuel distribution at key locations for Christmas and New Year celebrations. Additionally, 32 motorcyclists are ready to deliver fuel to locations in emergencies," Rahman explained.

For LPG needs, Rahman noted that Pertamina Patra Niaga has prepared 87 standby LPG filling stations (SPPBE), 932 LPG agents (both PSO and non-PSO), 37,236 PSO LPG bases, and 7,206 non-PSO LPG bases in the region.

As part of the visit, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, with Rahman Pramono Wibowo, greeted visitors at petrol stations and presented gifts to tanker truck drivers and petrol station workers as a form of appreciation for their efforts in fulfilling the energy needs of the people in Medan, North Sumatra.

In a separate statement, the VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, emphasized that all these efforts are being undertaken by Pertamina, the Satgas Nataru team, and all relevant parties to ensure energy availability and provide the best service for people across Indonesia.

"This is a service for the community during Nataru to ensure smooth operations. Hopefully, with these efforts, people can conduct worship peacefully during the holidays with their families. Those enjoying the Christmas and New Year holidays can travel and vacation safely and comfortably," said Fadjar.
