Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024: A Carbon-Neutral Event Appreciated by Runners

Jakarta, November 24, 2024 – Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024, held at Istora Senayan Jakarta on Sunday, November 24, 2024, was a resounding success. This running and festival event encouraged the community to adopt an eco-friendly and carbon-neutral lifestyle, attracting many running enthusiasts.  

According to participant data, 12,300 runners joined the Eco Run. It included 6,484 participants in the Fun Run 5K category, 3,171 participants in the 10K category, 1,850 participants in the Family 1.5K category, and 820 participants in the Half Marathon 21K category. Additionally, 9,500 people participated in the Eco-Fest.  

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), highlighted the growing enthusiasm for this annual event, motivating Pertamina to enhance its services for Eco RunFest participants.  

"We appreciate everyone who brought energy to this event today, inspiring one another—not just for personal fitness but also for promoting a sustainable lifestyle to protect nature and the environment," he stated.  

Yayan Mulyana, the first-place winner in the Men’s 10K category, expressed his admiration for the annual Pertamina Eco RunFest event. He regarded the event as the best compared to other running events he had participated in.  

Yayan hopes that Pertamina Eco RunFest continues to be held annually. "This is exciting. The route is clear, and the prizes are extraordinary. Thank you, Pertamina," said Yayan.  

Meanwhile, Wahyu Subiantari, the third-place winner in the Women’s 10K category, described Pertamina Eco RunFest as a highly anticipated annual event for runners. She commended the event’s excellent organization, from the clear running routes and abundant water stations to other supporting facilities.  

"I would like to thank Pertamina for hosting such a large-scale event. I hope it continues to improve in the future. Success to Pertamina!" said Wahyu.  

In the Men’s Half Marathon (HM) Open category, the first-place winner was Mathew Samperu with a time of 1:05:12, followed by Rikki Marthin Luther Simbolon in second place with 1:09:05, and Lengen Lolkurraru in third place with 1:10:02.  

In the Women’s Half Marathon (HM) Open category, the winner was Lucy Nthenya Ndambuki, clocking 1:15:50. Second place went to Odekta Elvina Naibaho with a time of 1:17:16, and Emebet Getawy Beyene secured third place with 1:20:06.  

Under the theme "Energizing the Change," Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024 is Indonesia’s first carbon-neutral running event, supporting the country's decarbonization efforts. The event also incorporated sustainability practices, including eco-friendly materials utilization and effective waste and garbage management, positively impacting the environment and the community.  

Pertamina also supported the Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) empowerment as part of its efforts to boost the national economy.
