Pertamina’s Disability Friends Empowered Through Difel Cafe

Denpasar, Bali, December 18, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero), through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) in the East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara region, specifically the Sanggaran Fuel Terminal (FT), is providing tangible support to friends with disabilities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The Difel Café (short for "Difabel Café") initiative is part of Pertamina's CSR program, aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities. These individuals have been trained in food preparation and coffee-making skills, enabling them to serve food and beverages akin to those offered in mainstream cafes.  

The Difel Cafe is located at Graha Nawasena, Kamboja Street No. 4, Dangin Puri Kangin, East Denpasar. This building was a grant from the City of Denpasar to the Denpasar City Social Affairs Office. Later, the Gantari Jaya Joint Business Group (KUB) utilized it for economic activities, including the Difel Cafe operations.  

VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that this program was initiated in 2023 through the Sanggaran FT and has since led to the ongoing operation of Difel Cafe.  

“We collaborated with nine individuals with disabilities, offering them a comprehensive six-month barista training program. Additionally, they received training in digital marketing, with benchmarking at the Rumah BUMN Klungkung and various facilities and resources. Through this support, we hope to inspire and foster independence among our friends with disabilities,” Fadjar elaborated.  

The Sanggaran FT has partnered with the Denpasar City Government and the Denpasar City Social Affairs Office. The initiative began by identifying disability groups in Denpasar to explore their potential for development. This collaboration extended to the Gantari Jaya Joint Business Group (KUB), a hub for individuals with various disabilities, including low vision, physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and others.  

Pertamina's CSR initiative received appreciation from I Nyoman Juniarta, the Chairperson of KUB Gantari Jaya. “Thank you to Pertamina FT Sanggaran for providing this CSR program to us, especially at Difel Cafe Gantari Jaya, which has helped create skilled disabled baristas, patissiers, and bakers,” he said.
