Recorded Lifting of 58 Million Barrels of Oil in 2024, PHR Reaffirms Energy Commitment to Indonesia

Jakarta, January 6, 2025 – PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Rokan WA, as the upstream oil and gas contractor (KKKS) operating in seven regencies/cities in Riau Province, recorded oil lifting reaching 58 million barrels by the end of 2024. All the oil was subsequently delivered to Pertamina's domestic refineries.

Since the management transfer of Rokan WA, PHR has drilled 1,539 new wells to support national energy resilience. By the end of this year, PHR achieved production levels exceeding 160,000 barrels of oil per day. The main production contribution came from drilling new wells and conducting workover and well intervention activities. PHR undertakes various efforts to maintain production through innovations and technologies to enhance oil well outputs in Rokan WA.

Rokan Zone General Manager, Andre Wijanarko, appreciated all the employees who worked tirelessly throughout 2024, culminating in the year-end lifting process. “We continue to strive to increase production by applying best practices and performance standards, as well as using the latest technologies in our operations,” he said.

In 2024, PHR also successfully conducted fracturing in conventional wells, Multi-Stage Fracturing in horizontal wells, and exploratory drilling of Non-Conventional Oil and Gas (MNK) wells, namely Gulamo DET-1 and Kelok DET-1, which demonstrated oil potential. Additionally, the company utilized reliable technologies such as steam flooding and water flooding.

As conveyed by President Prabowo's administration, Indonesia is expected to achieve energy self-sufficiency. Therefore, PHR, as the backbone of the upstream oil and gas sector, will continue to produce at maximum capacity and remain a key contributor to the nation's energy needs.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that optimizing the Rokan Block’s management, one of Indonesia's largest oil and gas blocks is part of Pertamina's efforts to increase domestic oil and gas production. With the application of innovation and technology, PHR has been able to sustain production in the Rokan Block, making it one of Indonesia's largest oil producers. "The management of this block reflects Pertamina's spirit of achieving national energy resilience, independence, and sovereignty," he said.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
